'Millionaire' on the Move

ABC apparently is taking no chances. The network plans to launch its new season of this year’s surprise hit, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” before its previously announced Jan. 11 premiere date. The shift is to beat Fox’s “Greed” and NBC’s “Twenty-One” to the starting gate. (The others are the latest entries into the quiz show genre that has been re-energized by “Millionaire.”) “Millionaire,” hosted by the indefatigable Regis Philbin, will run for eight straight days beginning Sunday, Jan. 9, before settling into its regular thrice-weekly timeslots on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. “Greed,” with host Chuck Woolery, returns on Jan. 7, while “Twenty-One,” with Maury Povich, bows on Jan. 9.
