Is Miley Cyrus crooning about someone in particular in her new Instagram video?

The pop star, 22, posted a snippet Sunday that showed her in a recording studio passionately singing a slow ballad about forgiveness.

“Why do people only show forgiveness when they want to sound cool in a song?” she sings in the short clip.

Although Cyrus doesn’t reveal too much in the teaser video, she already has fans amped up at the idea of new music on the horizon (her last album, Bangerz, debuted October 2013). “New album means concert tour on its way holler!!” one commenter posted next to the video, which has already collected hundreds of thousands of likes.

The video does tip off a not-so-secret collaboration between the “We Can’t Stop” songstress and Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne.

The singer-songwriter, 54, also posted a snapshot and video from their studio session on his own Instagram on Saturday. “With @mileycyrus at 4:00am… Good vibe…” he captioned the clip.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Coyne discussed his band’s collaboration with Cyrus, admitting he doesn’t know exactly what the partnership will bring.

“At the moment we just sort of work on things as they come up, so part of this seems like something we’re working on with Miley, but we’re also working on it as a production,” he told the magazine.

“I almost think it might be the series of songs that are Miley Cyrus songs, Flaming Lips songs on her record, then there’s the series of the same songs on our record. Ours sound like the Flaming Lips and hers sound like Miley Cyrus, but they’re the same songs,” he explained.
