Miley Cyrus kicked off SNL with an ode to the summer of 2015

Miley Cyrus kicked off the season premiere of Saturday Night Live by looking back at the biggest names of summer of 2015 – including everyone from Arianna Grande to Kim Davis.

Wearing a floral plastic minidress and matching bathing cap, the “Wrecking Ball” singer took aim at herself before beginning her act.

“I love hosting this show because it’s live, so my parents know where I’m at for at least 90 minutes,” Cyrus joked.

She added, “Tonight I am on a seven second delay – not a television delay, it’s just when you smoke as much as I do you’re always on a 7 second delay.”

But Cyrus spent the majority of her opening monologue with a musical number, which she dedicated to the most memorable moments of 2015.

“And while I’m excited to be here, I’m also kind of sad because it feels like the summer of 2015 has officially come to an end,” she told the audience. “With that in mind, I would like to take a moment to say goodbye to all those who made this summer what is was. And while we will never think of these people ever ever again, they certainly did this summer their way.”

Belting out an impression rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” Cyrus provided the soundtrack while cast members spoofed the people behind the biggest headlines of the past few months.

Rachel Dolezal, Jared Fogle, Lenny Kravitz‘ wardrobe malfunction, the Entourage movie and even pizza rat were included in the montage.

Arianna Grande’s half licked donut and the Meek Mill/Drake feud also received a shoutout.

In addition to hosting duties, Cyrus also served as the musical guest for the 41st season of the sketch comedy show on NBC.
