Miley Cyrus’s VMA outfit might be this year’s hottest Halloween costume. But for the real-life Cyrus, she’s been there, done that.

Instead, the twerk-happy star, 20, opted for a throwback costume inspired by another skin-baring star who courted controversy at the MTV Video Music Awards more than a decade earlier: rapper Lil Kim.

On Wednesday night, the “Wrecking Ball” singer Tweeted a photo of herself dressed in the memorably skimpy outfit Kim wore to the 1999 Video Music Awards.

Donning a sultry look, a purple wig and that infamous purple pasty atop her left breast, the singer simply captioned the Tweet “Happy Halllllloweeeen” with four hearts after it.

And the Notorious K.I.M. rapper approves.

On Thursday, Lil Kim Tweeted her support of Miley’s costume.

“Awwww. Look at my baby @mileycyrus tonight!!! Looking GORGEOUS!!! I wish I was there to squeeze your boob 🙂 :)”
