Watch Miley Cyrus Cover Outkast's 'Hey Ya'

The prompt "Shake it like a Polaroid picture" is not taken lightly

Miley Cyrus covered Outkast’s deathless pop anthem “Hey Ya” Saturday night at the Staples Center in L.A., and naturally she used the song’s “Shake it like a Polaroid picture” line to engage in some twerking.

Cyrus is no stranger to performing other people’s songs, whether it’s her startlingly faithful (and pretty stunning, honestly) cover of Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene” or her less-advised version of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

But given that André 3000 is one of the few people who seems like he could match Cyrus weird-outfit-for-weird-outfit, “Hey Ya” is a great fit. And Cyrus takes the song some interesting places, with a more restrained arrangement that suits the song’s underlying melancholy.

At least, until she starts twerking. Miley, don’t ever change.
