Oops.

Former NFL player Michael Sam broke one of the Internet’s biggest rules when he tweeted a spoiler – which we won’t spoil – for Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Friday.

Sam’s tweet quickly earned all kinds of condemnation before he quickly deleted the tweet.

He replaced it with another Friday night: “#oops.”

Carrie Fisher and Ellen DeGeneres Try To Sell Star Wars: The Force Awakens Tickets!

Responses to Sam’s message were strong from some fans – but not others.

The Force Awakens may already be breaking box office records – packing record audiences in its few days in theaters – but the remaining fans have been fiercely protective of their #nospoiler routines, preserving the film’s equally tight-lipped marketing, all in anticipation of seeing the first Star Wars film in a decade.

All of that to say: The Force was not strong with Sam’s tweet.
