Producer/director Michael Bay (Transformers) had a bit of bad luck Monday when his teleprompter malfunctioned at a tech conference in Las Vegas.

Bay, 48, grew flustered before he simply walked off the stage, later apologizing for the incident in a blog post.

Bay was attending Samsung’s press event at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show help present the company’s new curved HDTVs. But he apparently failed to synch up with the teleprompter and couldn’t recover, saying, “The type is all off … sorry,” before walking offstage.

Bay addressed his “meltdown” in a blog post later on Monday.

“Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES,” he wrote before segueing into praise for Samsung’s new curved HD TV. “I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.”
