Michael has again risen to the top of the charts as this past year’s most popular name for baby boys, according to Social Security records analyzed by BabyCenter.com. Mike’s been there for decades, although last year he was replaced by the name Jacob (this year’s No. 2). He’s back for 2000, though. As for last year’s winning name for girls, Emily, she’s slipped into this year’s second notch. Hannah is the most popular girl’s name of 2000. The complete Top 10 for boys: Michael, Jacob, Matthew, Nicholas, Christopher, Joseph, Zachary, Joshua, Andrew and William.
