Jason Derulo Responds to Rumor That He Fell Down the Steps at the Met Gala (PHOTO)

Jason Derulo did not fall down the Met Gala stairs. But he did fall victim to a hilarious rumor that spread like wildfire on social media.

The singer, 25, unwillingly became one of the highlights of the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night in New York City after Twitter users started trending an image of a man taking an epic spill down red-carpeted stairs, claiming that it was Derulo who fell at the glam event.

In the photo, an unidentified man in a white tuxedo can be seen doing a somersault on the steps in front of a sea of photographers as security guards rush to help him recover.

But stop right there: the photo is allegedly from the Cannes Film Festival back in 2011, when an unidentified gentleman did take a tumble.

And as for Derulo? He was in Los Angeles, he clarified on Instagram.

The “Talk Dirty” singer found the whole joke pretty funny, Tweeting on Monday evening a meme of himself with quite the puzzled expression. He captioned the image, “Lmao I’m at rehearsal in L.A. F— y’all! Lol.”
