Meredith Vieira Explains How She Got Her Shocking Black Eye
Vieira said she's lucky since it could have been worse.
Meredith Vieira appeared on the the Today show on Friday, wearing a red dress and black sunglasses – but she wasn’t trying to make a fashion statement.
Vieira, 61, removed her shades, revealing to her co-host Hoda Kotb a painful looking black eye, which she said happened on a seemingly simple, middle-of-the-night trip to the bathroom.
“I had to go to the bathroom and I didn’t put the light on,” she said. “And to get to the bathroom, you go through a little dressing room. And I had just come back from Los Angeles.”
“So, I go to the bathroom, and I forget the suitcase is there. And I fell over the suitcase, and I hit my head on the rim of the dressing room table,” she continued.
Luckily, the injury looks worse than it is. Vieira complained of a headache, but nothing else and joked to Kotb that she had it checked out by her doctor who “amazingly” found a brain in her CT scan.
“If it had been a little lower, something bad could have happened. Something really bad,” she said. “My head hurts.”
