Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green’s relationship had its ups and downs, but their recent split seemed to come as a surprise – except to some observant fans of Bravo’s Flipping Out.

The Beverly Hills 902010 star filmed with the reality show from November 2014 through April 2015, as the show’s hosts, Jeff Lewis and Jenni Pulos, renovated his $5 million Camarillo home. Green was featured on Flipping Out‘s July 1 premiere, and at first, everything seemed normal as the actor made it clear he and his family intended on living in – as opposed to flipping – the house.

Green appeared on the show, but Fox was never seen or consulted on air about remodeling decisions. In one episode, Lewis tries talking Green out of installing a black and purple-themed Laker’s basketball court in the backyard, warning the color scheme might drive down the property value. When Lewis suggests running the choice by Fox, Green becomes noticeably annoyed, and replies defensively, “What the f—, man?”

Later, when Lewis calls Green to tell him about some major flooding issues inside the house, the actor tells him he’s changed his mind and decided to sell it without ever offering an explanation.

With relationship problems between the couple predating their breakup by several months, there’s speculation they decided to sell the house because they were drifting apart while the show was filming.

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green Are Divorcing

After 11 years together, PEOPLE confirmed Green and Fox’s breakup on Wednesday. The couple, who wed in 2010 and have two sons, Noah Shannon, 2½, and Bodhi Ransom, 18 months, were last seen in public holding hands during a June 9 lunch date in Beverly Hills.

“They will always love each other very much and are devoted to their kids,” a source says. “Anything could happen in the future, but for now they’ve decided it’s best to take some time apart.”
