Young Hollywood welcomes its newest member: Mavis Spencer, daughter of Golden Globe winner Alfre Woodard and writer/producer Roderick Spencer, who was named Miss Golden Globe 2010 Tueday night in Los Angeles.

“I’m very new to this, it’s very surreal right now,” Spencer, 18, told PEOPLE at the Golden Globe Awards Party Honoring Young Hollywood.

Chimed in Woodard, 57: “I told Mavis, it’s just like your Grandma’s cocktail party, find someone who is interesting and have a chat.”

“She really is a Renaissance woman,” mom continued to gush. “She is a nationally ranked equestrian, she’s a show jumper, she’s a Shakespeare savant, and she’s a beautiful actor.”
