McCartney's Last Will

Linda McCartney left her entire fortune to her husband Paul, according to a will that was filed for probate in Manhattan’s Surrogate Court. Although no monetary value was placed on the trust (which, as it was set up, virtually excludes Paul from having to pay taxes), it is estimated that the ex-Beatle is now worth $1.1 billion. Linda McCartney, who died from breast cancer in 1998 at the age of 56, was a photographer as well as an entrepreneurial crusader for vegetarianism (she had her own food line) and animal rights. Upon Paul’s death, the money will go to their children. In other estate news, the last will and testament of ’30s and ’40s screen legend Hedy Lamarr, who died in January at the age of 86, bequeathed $83,000 each to a police officer who befriended her, her personal secretary and a California engineer who never met the star but who talked to her nearly every day by phone.
