The character played by Gil Bellows on Fox’s “Ally McBeal” will meet a grim fate at the end of this season, according to an exclusive report in PEOPLE. Bellows, who plays Billy, Ally’s first love and current law colleague, has already announced his plans to leave the hit series at season’s end to pursue other acting roles. Now comes word that his character will succumb to a brain tumor. This won’t mean the last of Billy, however. Already there are plans to bring him back as a ghost next season, which will surely send Ally back to the couch for more therapy.
