Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves's Show of Love
A PREMIERE COUPLE
When Matthew McConaughey hits the red carpet, he can always count on support from wife Camila Alves (here, at this year's Cannes Film Festival). "We've been living a married life for over six years now," she said. And the longtime couple finally made it official Saturday in a private ceremony in Texas.
And the Magic Mike star is quick to return the favor, sitting in the front row when his lady love worked the catwalk for the Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection fashion show in 2011. "We love each other for who we are," McConaughey has said.
FIT FOR TWO
For fitness fanatic McConaughey, Alves's love of staying in shape helped seal the deal between the duo, especially when she beat him at his own game during a 3,000-foot hike in French Polynesia. "[Camila] was wearing Havaianas sandals and a white skirt," he said. "I came down to the bottom of that hill afterward and had blood on me, [all] muddy … and that girl didn't have a speck of dust on her."
LONE STAR NO MORE
Alves has also embraced her new hubby's favorite pastimes, including cheering for his alma mater, the University of Texas Longhorns, at the 2009 Fiesta Bowl.
Likewise, McConaughey has not shied away from learning about Alves's native Brazil, where he joined her for some samba dancing during Carnival in 2009, and has even started to pick up the language. "My son's much better at Portuguese than I am, but my favorite [word is] 'beijos.' Kisses," he said.
LIFE IS A BEACH
When not traveling the world, the pair has most often called Malibu, Calif., their home, where Alves frolicked with her resident beach bum a month before giving birth to the couple's first child, son Levi, in June 2008. "I always wanted to be a father and thought it would be great, but it just took the right woman and the right time to make it all happen," McConaughey said.
Eighteen months later, the second-time parents introduced daughter Vida (born in January 2010) to the world via the actor's Web site. "He's my man, and we're a family," Alves said. "He's the best dad he can be, 100-percent hands-on."
TWO OF HEARTS
The couple also collaborates when it comes to McConaughey's philanthropic efforts, led by his j.k. livin Foundation, which brought volunteers together to create care packages for military personnel stationed overseas in October 2009.
Issues close to the model's heart have also been made a priority by the pair, who sat front and center at the opening gala for 2009's first annual Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival, which aimed to foster relations between the Brazilian and international film communities.
"It feels good to be back home. It feels good to have my family here, my kids here," McConaughey said of his 2012 return to his Texan roots at the South by Southwest film and music festival. Right by his side was Alves, who happily joined her guy in Austin, where the actor premiered his film Bernie.
