Fifty Shades of Grey fans didn’t exactly scream in ecstasy when they learned Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson were cast in the film version. So they took matters in their own hands.

Fans launched a petition begging producers to cast Matt Bomer as kinky-yet-sensitive billionaire Christian Grey and Alexis Bledel as Anastasia Steele.

Bomer politely declines to take up the cause.

“I’m so grateful for the fans and touched,” he tells Entertainment Tonight while promoting his USA series, White Collar. “I’m looking forward to seeing the movie with Charlie and Dakota.”

But don’t despair, Bomer fans: The actor, 35, also says his White Collar character might channel Grey – at least a little. “We’re definitely embracing more of a bad boy version of Neal this year.”

Plus, nobody can take away all those shirtless dances in Magic Mike.
