Police have yet to name a suspect in the murder of a Maryland woman who found dead next to her 5-month-old baby girl.

Karlyn Serane Ramirez, a 24-year-old soldier at Fort George G. Meade, was found shot to death last Tuesday, CBS News reports. Her daughter was unharmed.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots over the weekend. “I’ve been in the Army 25 years. So I know what shots sound like. I said, ‘Somebody is firing somewhere,’ ” Alvin Zeno said.

But it wasn’t until Tuesday morning that another neighbor called the cops after noticing that Ramirez’s door was open, according to the Capital Gazette.

Investigators said that Ramirez was married, but lived alone with her daughter. “We have spoken to her husband. We’ve conducted interviews with her husband. We’re still investigating any leads that we have with the husband and family members,” Lt. Ryan Frashure said.
