Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook’s CEO had the perfect response to a commenter who said she encourages her granddaughters to date the nerd in high school because “he may turn out to be a Mark Zuckerberg.”

Zuckerberg, 31, supports the notion that girls can be the nerd themselves – and will become the next great minds in science, technology, engineering and math.

“Even better would be to encourage them to *be* the nerd in their school so they can be the next successful inventor!” he commented on the post.

Zuckerberg, who welcomed daughter Maxima with wife Dr. Priscilla Chan in November, practices what he preaches. In December, he posted a picture of himself and Chan reading Quantum Physics for Babies to their then 2-week-old daughter.

“Your mother and I don’t yet have the words to describe the hope you give us for the future,” he wrote in an open letter to his daughter. “Your new life is full of promise, and we hope you will be happy and healthy so you can explore it fully. You’ve already given us a reason to reflect on the world we hope you live in.”
