Margulies Exits 'ER'

Julianna Margulies has turned down a $27 million offer to stay on “ER” for another two seasons, reports Variety. The actress, who has won an Emmy Award for her portrayal of the compassionate and committed Nurse Hathaway (who won the heart of George Clooney’s Dr. Doug Ross) is set to leave the series at the end of this season, despite the record-breaking deal offered to her by Warner Bros. television, the studio that produces the NBC medical drama. Had she accepted the offer, Margulies would have been TV’s highest paid actress. Margulies reportedly cited creative reasons for leaving the series (she wants to pursue movie and theater roles) and has said she did everything she could with the character (short of becoming a doctor, we guess). Before her exit, Nurse Hathaway will go out with a bang, at least: On the episode scheduled to air on Thanksgiving, Hathaway is expected to give birth to Dr. Ross’s twins.
