Sometimes when you give notice at work, you leave a bad taste in the mouths of your co-workers. Here is one man’s best attempt at doing the opposite.

When Mark Herman, 28, left his job as newscast director at Arizona’s KOLD, he did so by having his resignation letter printed onto a cake. “Please accept this cake as formal (and delicious) notice of my resignation,” the pastry read.

In case you’re wondering, the unusual letter was meant in good humor. “My coworkers and I are really a tight working group,” he told the New York Daily News. “I thought this would make it easier. You can’t be sad at a cake.”

And yes, the KOLD staff did eat the cake, Daily News notes. Herman told Jim Romensko that it was “the best-tasting cake I’ve ever had.”

Herman is moving on to work at Nashville’s WKRN.
