How’s this for a corny anniversary present?

To celebrate 50 years of marriage, Paul Derthick surprised his wife recently by carving 17 acres of their Ohio farm into a giant corn maze that looks, from above, just like the couple’s 1963 wedding photo.

“He did it with the kids. They kept it a secret,” Marie Derthick tells Good Morning America. “I thought they were nuts, but it’s actually turned out very well.”

“They put it together very nicely, with the church where we were married at the top, and our wedding picture of the two of us in the middle and the old tractor at the bottom,” Marie adds.

Paul and Marie have been creating unusual corn mazes on their 181-acre Mantua, Ohio, farm for seven years.

“Last year we did John Glenn, because he had his 50th anniversary of going around the world, and … we had the Twin Towers in honor of the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11. And we’ve done the Steelers and the Browns,” Marie says.

But how will they ever top this latest design?

“I don’t know,” she says, “but we’ve got to come up with something good.”
