Mad Men star Kiernan Shipka is moving into edgier territory with her role in Lifetime’s upcoming reboot of V.C. Andrews’s cult classic Flowers in the Attic.

In this sure-to-be-creepy horror flick, Shipka plays a teen ballet dancer who is locked in an attic along with her siblings for more than two years. Check out its brand-new trailer:

Shipka’s come a long way since her early days as Sally Draper, and sometimes it’s hard to remember she’s still just 14 (yes, even when her young Mad Men character can be seen discovering her sexuality, not to mention the joys of nicotine).

Indeed, Shipka has always seemed precocious. Here are some of the many times the young actress has also stepped out looking strikingly mature for her age.

Even Gwyneth Paltrow would be envious of that Burberry cape.

Kiernan strikes a pose at Variety‘s Power of Youth event, but reminds us more of Debbie Gibson’s Electric Youth phase.

Angelina who? Kiernan puts A-listers twice her age to shame on the red carpet.

Work it, girl! Kiernan struts her style.

Bubble skirts are so last season, but she gets a pass for being adorable.

Does Kiernan go to the same stylist as Sienna Miller and Nicole Richie for her braided updo.

Perfectly poised in Chanel – we’d expect nothing less from you, Ms. Shipka.
