Love vs. Grohl Grudge Match Continues

Courtney and the Foo Fighters frontman keep up their public war of words

Courtney Love and ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl continue their public war of words in an interview in Spin magazine that hits newsstands on Friday, the Associated Press reports.

In the article, Love calls Grohl “one of the biggest jerks,” and says she doesn’t know why he is known as the “nicest guy in rock.” Grohl says that he doesn’t know either. “Because I don’t do coke?” he asked.

Love, the widow of former Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, was embroiled in a legal dispute with Grohl and Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic for years, which delayed the release of the pioneering grunge rockers’ box set With the Lights Out.

Love also claims that Grohl has “been taking money from my child for years,” a reference to Love and Cobain’s daughter, 12-year-old Frances Bean Cobain, and Grohl and Love’s financial disputes over Nirvana’s royalties. A spokesman for Grohl, who now heads the Foo Fighters, wouldn’t comment on Love’s statements.

The former singer for Hole, Love is no stranger to controversy. The 41-year-old performer was sentenced to a court-ordered drug treatment program after being found under the influence of a controlled substance in 2003. On Friday, a judge praised Love for her progress in the program.
