'Lost' Actress Watros Apologizes in Court

The TV star says "I'm sorry" at her sentencing for drunken driving in Hawaii

Lost star Cynthia Watros pleaded guilty to drunken driving Thursday in a Hawaiian court, where she was fined $312, had her driver’s license suspended for 90 days and was ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment and submit to 14 hours of counseling.

“I’m sorry,” Watros, 37, told District Judge James Dannenberg after entering her plea. The jurist responded: “This is no fun, but you know how much worse it could have been. Get on with your life, and I wish you luck.”

According to police reports, when Watros was pulled over, she told officers she was heading home to Lanikai. Officers then pointed out to her that she was heading in the wrong direction.

Outside the courtroom Watros, who plays Libby on the hit ABC show, said: “I’m extremely grateful to the people of Hawaii for their love and support, thank you.”

Fellow Lost cast member Michelle Rodriguez, who plays police officer Ana Lucia, was also charged with drunken driving. The two were pulled over in separate cars within 15 minutes of each other Dec. 1.

According to police reports, Rodriguez, 27, was “very argumentative” with arresting officers and said: “Why don’t you just put a gun to my head and shoot me? You’ve already taken my freedom! You might as well take my life, too!”

Rodriguez attorney Steven Barta attended Thursday’s hearing. He said he was just there to observe. The actress, who is scheduled to stand trial March 30 after pleading not guilty last month, was also cited for speeding in Hawaii three times last year.

In 2004, Rodriguez pleaded no contest in Los Angeles to three traffic violations, including drunken driving. She completed a three-month alcohol program and is serving a three-year probation term.

The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office has said that Rodriguez violated the terms of her probation, and she could face up to 18 months in county jail.
