Oscar nominee Cate Blanchett won’t be offended if you think she’s not beautiful. “Go ahead. Say it. I’ve looked ugly. That’s OK … I’m not opposed to looking what is commonly termed as ugly,” she says in the March issue of Vanity Fair. “The greatest compliment I think I’ve ever had was when another actor said I had ‘an actor’s face’ … I’m as vain as the next person, let’s face it, but it’s really important to try to shed that vanity,” she said. Blanchett, who recently won a Golden Globe for her starring role in “Elizabeth,” also told the magazine that she loves living on the edge. “If I had my way, if I was lucky enough, if I could be on the brink my entire life — that great sense of expectation and excitement without the disappointment — that would be the perfect state.”
