Broadway icon Liza Minnelli is 70 years old today!

A small group of Minnelli’s close friends will fly from New York City to Los Angeles to surprise her in honor of the milestone.

“I like to think of celebrating my birthday as celebrating my Minnellium,” Minnelli said.

Several celebs have taken to social media to wish the superstar a happy birthday, including Kathy Griffin, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett and Kim Cattrall.

Minnelli, the daughter of actress Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli, began acting as a teenager in New York City. She earned her first Tony Award in 1965 for her role in the musical Flora the Red Menace, which served as her Broadway debut.

Over the course of her prolific career, Minnelli has joined the exclusive “EGOT” club, winning an Emmy Award, a special “Legends” Grammy Award, an Oscar (for her acclaimed role as Sally Bowles in 1972’s Cabaret) and four Tony Awards, among many other awards. She has also found success outside of musical theater, with a recurring role on the critically acclaimed TV show Arrested Development and a fun cameo in Sex and the City 2.

Additionally, Minnelli is a longtime supporter of charities such as The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential and amFAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research.
