Liza Minnelli, who recently entered a rehab facility for substance abuse, is in good spirits and ready to go back to work.
“Liza is doing very well in rehab and coming along fine,” a source close to the entertainer tells PEOPLE.
“So eager to get out and go back to work, she is busy arranging her next projects.”
Minnelli, 69, thrives on music and performing, but has struggled with substance abuse over the years.
“It’s no secret she has dealt with this for years,” her spokesperson Scott Gorenstein told PEOPLE. “And when she felt the need to seek help again, she did.”
Indeed, those who know her insist that nothing will keep her down.
Minnelli is working on several new musical ventures, including more concerts and charity events. Such a natural performer, she entertained for charity two years ago while plagued with a broken wrist.
She also surprises friends with impromptu songs when she is out on the town socially.
“Liza is a survivor,” a longtime friend of the singer told PEOPLE. “She is a champ.”
