Just before midnight on Friday, Lindsay Lohan showed up sporting a new look at the wrap party for her comedy Just My Luck at hot new club Plus in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood. The flame-haired actress was sporting strawberry-blonde locks when she made her entrance.

“Oh my god, it’s so scary!” she told a partygoer about her tress-formation. But Lohan, 18, explained that her hair-color change wasn’t for fun – it’s for work. “I wouldn’t do it for real, no way. It’s for a movie. Meryl Streep is my mom, and we’re supposed to match.” Lohan is starring with the Oscar winner in A Prairie Home Companion, the Robert Altman-directed film about a radio show (due out next year).

Lohan, who wore a black beret, a white tee with a female face silk-screened on the front, a fitted black blazer and black pants, attended the Just My Luck party with her mom Dina. The actress also smoked and danced with friends to songs including Mystikal’s “Danger” and Fat Joe’s “Lean Back” and happily signed a few autographs for fans who approached her in the VIP section of the soiree.

In Just My Luck, which also costars Entourage‘s Samaire Armstrong, Lohan is a New Yorker leading a charmed life whose luck changes when she meets a down-and-out young man. It’s one of several movies she has in the works. Next up, Lohan will hit the big screen in the Disney movie Herbie: Fully Loaded, out June 24.
