Lindsay Lohan and Harry Morton's summer romance may have faded with the season, but it's been fun to watch. Since the two met at Lohan's 20th birthday bash July 2, Morton had been a dutiful sidekick – at work and at play (right, on Sept. 4 at the Venice Film Festival).

In Venice, things seemed so serious that engagement talk ran rampant. And Lohan didn't help matters, teasingly swapping rings as often as she switches hair colors. "She's just messing around," a friend told PEOPLE about the time, while mom Dina maintained, "They're not engaged."
The couple even took the next step in their relationship: the one-on-one vacation. In Hawaii they relaxed and smooched in the surf. And adding to the hot time was speculation about his visit just days before to the Cartier store in Beverly Hills. "They get along great and have a lot in common," a source told PEOPLE at the time.
Morton earned marks, too, for hanging with Lohan's friends. On Aug. 26, the two wished stylist Rachel Zoe a happy birthday alongside other A-List clients Mischa Barton and Keira Knightley. Another reason to party: Earlier in the week, Lohan wrapped shooting on the drama Georgia Rule.
On July 28, two days after Lohan was hospitalized briefly for "dehydration" and "exhaustion," Morton helped shuttle Lohan on the road to recovery – and deflect criticism from her Georgia Rule boss, who accused her of unprofessional behavior after missing work.
A buffer between friends and rivals – that's you, Paris (inset) – Morton offered Lohan his undivided attention. At a clambake July 15, the couple shared a lovey-dovey moment. Earlier in the week, they swapped their beach gear for evening wear, and hit up a Prada party in Beverly Hills and hot spot Les Deux with Nicole Richie.
