5 Things You Missed: Leighton Meester and Adam Brody's Caliente Date, the Film that Lost Big & the Cats Who Won It All
Plus: our favorite (and candid!) family portrait
Finally, the biggest awards show of red carpet season is upon us – but there was plenty of other Oscar-worthy action on the streets of Hollywood (and beyond!) this weekend.
Although we won’t personally be giving out any gold statues Sunday night, we’re extending plenty of praise to some commendable kitties and, yes, even the biggest losers making headlines.
Here’s what you missed this weekend:
5. Name That Pre-Fame Oscar Nominee
Before Jennifer Lawrence stole the screen in Silver Linings Playbook, she took the stage in local theaters across her hometown of Louisville, Ky. But her smile hasn’t changed one bit! See if you recognize these stars in the days long before their strut down the red carpet. (Guess who!)
4. Now That’s an Adorable Family Portrait
Family indeed matters for Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart, who were spotted enjoying a low-key Los Angeles outing on Saturday with 2½-year-old daughter Billie. The only thing missing from their precious moment: 13-month-old daughter Georgia. (Say cheese!)
3. See Who Took Home an A-Cat-emy Award
And you think the Academy Awards are fierce: PEOPLE Pets revisited the most notable purr-formances of the year to recognize the very best in Internet cat cinema. Remember, in the world of feline film, there are no small parts … just kittens. (And the winner is …)
2. Aww or Mmm? Leighton Meester & Adam Brody Cuddle Over Mexican Food
Now that’s a fiesta we’d like to crash. New couple Leighton Meester and Adam Brody stepped out together with a pal for an early dinner in Venice, Calif., where they dined at La Fiesta Brava, a local Mexican restaurant. Before they left, “Adam put his arm around Leighton,” an onlooker tells PEOPLE, “and the two smiled at each other while she snuggled into his chest.” (All the caliente details)
1. Now This Bites: Twilight Loses Big
Not even Taylor Lautner‘s abs could save The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which was recognized at the 33rd annual Golden Raspberry Awards (a.k.a. the Razzies) as the worst picture of the year. The film took home, um, honors in seven categories, including worst actress (Kristen Stewart), worst screen ensemble and worst supporting actor (snagged by Lautner himself). (Sink your teeth in)
