LeAnn Rimes is being called upon to fill the shoes once occupied by Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand. The teenage country star is set to make her feature film acting debut in “Emily’s Song,” a Warner Bros. drama in the vein of the old warhorse “A Star Is Born.” (The plot: A young performer’s career is on the rise while that of the man she loves is in decline.) “Emily’s Song” is reportedly being fast-tracked as the studio’s most prominent music-to-film crossover attempt since the 1992 George Strait road movie “Pure Country” and the 1997 biopic “Selena.” Warners has been looking for a starring vehicle for Rimes for some time, reports Variety.
