Lawyer Accuses Jenny Jones

Talk show host Jenny Jones sat in a Michigan courtroom Wednesday as an attorney asked a jury to award $71.5 million in damages against her show. In closing arguments, plaintiff’s attorney Geoffrey Fieger told the jury it needed to “instill a sense of responsibility in otherwise lawless people.” Jurors will begin deliberating Thursday as to whether “The Jenny Jones Show” should be blamed for Scott Amedure’s death in 1995, three days after Amedure revealed a secret crush on Jonathan Schmitz during a taping of the show. (The show never aired. Schmitz was found guilty of murder in 1996, but his conviction was thrown out on appeal. His retrial is set for Aug. 19.) Jones left the court without comment after closing arguments finished.
