Laverne Cox discussed the impact that Caitlyn Jenner‘s transition has had on the transgender community on CBS’s The Talk on Tuesday.

Cox, who has publicly supported Jenner’s journey, told the talk show hosts that while Jenner’s story is vastly different from hers, it’s important to have diverse representation within their community.

“It’s not about positive representation or negative representation, but diverse representation,” Cox said. “When I think about Caitlyn’s story it’s so very different from mine. I transitioned in my 20s. Working class. Black.”

Cox continued discussing how Jenner’s visibility allows her to reach so many people, something Cox, 31, views as very impactful.

“I think what is so beautiful is that she’s using her privilege to elevate the stories of other trans folks that don’t have the privilege that she does,” she added.

After praising Jenner’s ESPY Awards speech, Cox finally got to meet the former Olympian in person at the premiere I Am Cait in July. The Orange Is the New Black star posted an Instgram photo with Jenner, 65, following a private advanced screening.

“@caitlynjenner and I finally met in person at a special private advance screening of #IAmCait. #TransIsBeautiful #girlslikeus,” Cox captioned their first photo together.
