Michael Landon’s widow has filed a $5 million defamation lawsuit against the Globe tabloid for portraying the couple’s marriage as troubled. The suit says the Globe falsely reported on July 6 that the “Highway to Heaven” star was involved in “such things as illegal drugs and pornography.” “I am outraged that the press feels that it can make any statements it wants about a person, no matter how damaging and no matter how false, when that person is dead and unable to defend himself,” Cindy Landon said in a statement. (Landon died of cancer in 1991.) An attorney for the Globe called the suit “frivolous.”
