As their divorce proceedings stall, Lamar Odom still has strong feelings for estranged wife Khloé Kardashian.

“It’s no secret Lamar regrets a lot of things. He’d still love to be married to Khloé,” an Odom pal tells PEOPLE. “And there’s a part of her that wishes it worked out, too.”

Kardashian, who turns 31 this month, filed for divorce from Odom, 35, in December 2013 following his drug relapse and a very public cheating scandal.

He never signed the papers, though, and a judge threatened to dismiss the petition all together in April unless Kardashian submits a request to enter a default judgment. In that case, she would have to refile to make the split official.

In a sneak peek of Keeping up with the Kardashians, she and sister Kim Kardashian West argue about her staying in contact with her ex.

“You’re like flirting with him and called off your whole divorce?” says Kardashian West, 34. “I just can’t take it.”

“Well good,” Kardashian replies. “You don’t have to.”

A source says Odom, a former NBA player, is “doing really well” and focusing on his fitness and business investments.

Meanwhile, Kardashian is coming to terms with Caitlyn Jenner‘s public debut as a woman, something she initially struggled with after feeling lied to for so many years, she explained on Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce last month.

“Khloé was most affected by Caitlyn’s transition. Everything has changed in her life and this was one of her stable areas. She feels vulnerable and sad,” a friend tells PEOPLE. “Kourtney has three kids, Kim has a second coming and she is now over 30 and not on that path. Everyone she dates seems to use her for fame. She distrusts everyone’s motives for being interested in her.”

Kardashian has been dating rapper French Montana on and off for a year.
