The former NBA star is being treated in Las Vegas
Lamar Odom has been rushed to a hospital in Las Vegas, PEOPLE has confirmed.
The former NBA star, 35, was hospitalized Tuesday after being discovered unconscious at a brothel in Nevada, Nye County Sherif Sharon A. Wehrly said in a statement to PEOPLE.
Wehrly said an emergency call came from Dennis Hof’s Bunny Ranch at approximately 3:15 p.m. Tuesday. Emergency personnel arrived at 3:34 p.m. to the scene of the Ranch, located in Crystal, Nevada. Odom was transported to Desert View Hospital.
“After being treated by the physicians, arrangements were made to transport him by Mercy Air helicopter. However, Mr. Odom was unable to be transported by air due to his stature,” Wehrly said. “He was immediately transported by Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Ambulance to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada for further treatment.”
Dennis Hof, who owns the brothel, tells PEOPLE the former NBA star arrived at his establishment on Saturday, and was found in his room unconscious Tuesday. He said two women had seen Odom go to sleep around 6 a.m.
“They came back at around 3:00 p.m., and he was unconscious, so they immediately called 911,” says Hof. “They told them to place him on his side, that’s when they saw a bunch of stuff coming out of his mouth.”
Sources tell PEOPLE Odom’s ex-wife Khloé Kardashian has been informed of his condition, which is described as serious. She is flying to be by his side Tuesday night.
Kylie Jenner cut short a live stream she was doing shortly after the news broke, telling fans: “Had to end my live stream. I love you guys.”
According to TMZ, which first reported Odom’s hospitalization, doctors intubated Odom, and claim he is breathing with the assistance of machines and remains in critical condition.
Odom wed Keeping up with the Kardashians star Khloé in 2009 after a whirlwind romance. The couple separated in December 2013 after he relapsed with his substance abuse problems and cheated on Kardashian. They were signed divorce papers in July.
