La Toya Jackson and her longtime business partner Jeffré Phillips have ended their engagement, but apparently remain close.

On Thursday, the pair stepped out to have dinner at Mastro’s Steakhouse in Beverly Hills, California, where they confirmed their split to TMZ.

“Has Ms. Jackson given you the green light for a bachelor party?” TMZ asked Phillips as the couple got into a black SUV outside the restaurant.

“No, not yet,” Phillips responded coyly.

But Jackson, 58, quickly shared their news. “We’re not engaged anymore,” she chimed in.

“No, that’s true,” Phillips confirmed, before shutting the car door in the cameraman’s face.

The private couple shared the happy details of their engagement to PEOPLE last June.

Jackson said that Phillips had actually popped the question on a Hawaiian beach vacation they took in August 2013, offering her a staggering 17.5-carat diamond ring. It took her a while, she added, to actually say “yes.”

Jackson had previously been married to Jack Gordon from 1989 to 1997.
