Daredevil motorcyclist Robbie Knievel has succeeded in a feat his father was never allowed to attempt — he jumped over the Grand Canyon at its narrowest point, clearing a gap more than 200 feet wide and more than 1,200 feet deep at a speed of more than 90 mph — as he faced winds of more than 15 mph. Paramedics on the scene said he may have broken his leg upon landing. They helped him limp away from the landing site. Before making the jump, 37-year-old Knievel thanked his father, the legendary Evel Knievel, for his example and the Hualapai Indians for allowing him to make the jump on their land. The stunt required him not only to clear the gap across the canyon but to drop 45 feet.
