How Kim Kardashian West Will Spend Her Birthday After 'Horrific' Robbery: 'She's Laying Low,' Says Source
"She just wants to be with her kids and out of public," a source tells PEOPLE
Kim Kardashian West‘s upcoming birthday is going to be a major departure from her usual celebrations.
While the star was scheduled to ring in the bash next week at Las Vegas’ Hakkasan Nightclub, she has since canceled the appearance and a source tells PEOPLE Kardashian West plans on keeping the day very low-key and has no big plans.
“She just wants to be with her kids and out of public,” says the source. “No one is pressuring her either. She has the best support from her family.”
The decidedly quiet birthday stands in stark contrast to Kardashian West’s usual bashes: She’s been known to celebrate in Sin City, hitting up The Strip for four of the last six years. On her 32nd birthday, the star celebrated with a romantic trip to Italy with husband Kanye West, who also arranged for a fun-filled surprise party for her most recent 35th birthday, when she was pregnant with son Saint, 10 months.
Another source tells PEOPLE that while Kardashian West knows there’s “a ton of attention on her, she’s not interested in resuming all of her normal daily routines yet.”
“She’s laying low and spending a lot of time with her kids and family,” says the insider, who adds that Kardashian West’s mother Kris Jenner has “been a big help through everything.”
STORY BEHIND THE STORY: The Aftermath of the Robbery of Kim Kardashian
Details of the crime are still emerging, and the source says Kardashian West, who was held at gunpoint by masked men who stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry from her apartment at the No Address Hotel at around 3 a.m. on Oct. 3, is “still extremely shaken.”
“She’s not going to move past this ordeal anytime soon,” says the insider. “Kanye is being protective and supportive, but no one can fully understand what Kim went through and how horrific it was.”
