Kim Kardashian West 'Is Happy to Return Home' to L.A. with Her Family Just Days After Paris Robbery Ordeal

Kim Kardashian West stayed in New York City for a few days after a swift departure from France on Monday

Kim Kardashian West is en route to her home in Los Angeles following the life-threatening robbery in Paris early Monday morning.

“They will be back in LA this afternoon,” a source close to the family tells PEOPLE. “Kim is happy to return home with the kids. Kanye is coming back to L.A. and then resuming his tour tomorrow while his family stays in L.A.”

Adds the source: “Kim is canceling all appearances that could be a security concern. She will continue filming [Keeping Up with the Kardashians] as usual.”

The 35-year-old reality star returned to the States on Monday, hours after the terrifying ordeal in which masked men held her at gunpoint, binding and gagging her in order to steal nearly $11 million in jewelry.

Kardashian West’s first stop was New York City, where she reunited with her husband and 3-year-old daughter North, who had taken in a performance of the Broadway show Matilda hours before the invasion in France.

Flanked by a swarm of security, the Wests took refuge in their Manhattan apartment for several days, welcoming friends and reassessing their security needs.

Among Kardashian West’s supporters were stars Lena Dunham and James Corden, to name a few.

“What I really hate about this Kim thing is that people are feeling so much license to make jokes,” the Girls creator and star told reporters on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club Wednesday. “That’s a human being and she may have put her life on display in a specific way and you may not agree with everything that she does, but that is a woman, and a mother and a daughter who’s just been put through something so heinous. My heart is with Kim.”

And Corden tweeted on Sunday night: “People making jokes about @KimKardashian tonight would do well to remember that she’s a mother, a daughter, a wife, a friend. Be nice or shut up.”
