Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are getting married in Italy, and the Mediterranean nation can thank its long artistic history for the honor.

As Kanye explained to an Italian newspaper, the country’s beautiful art helped spur the couple to a night of passion on a 2012 visit. “I think we conceived our daughter North here,” the rapper told Florence’s La Nazione newspaper, “among the masterpieces of the Renaissance.”

Behold, five of the most famous paintings of the Italian Renaissance, made even more glorious by the addition of this modern-day Renaissance family.

Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus

According to Kanye, Kim is “the most beautiful woman of all time, arguably of human existence.” She wasn’t around for Botticelli to paint, so he had to settle for the next-best goddess.

Gentile Bellini’s The Virgin and Child Enthroned

It’s only a matter of time before Kanye releases “North Walks,” a sequel to one of his first hits.

Raphael’s Sistine Madonna (Detail)

Even as literal cherubs, these two are still much less cherubic than North West.

Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam

While Kanye was in Rome presenting leather jogging pants to Fendi, he also stopped by the Vatican with a plan to renovate the Sistine Chapel. It was similarly denied.

Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa

A smile as enigmatic as the original’s.
