Washington put aside partisan differences Sunday to celebrate this year’s Kennedy Center honorees: Bill Cosby, Willie Nelson and former child star Shirley Temple Black, the songwriting duo John Kander and Fred Ebb (“Cabaret’) and musician Andre Previn. President Clinton, Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott and former Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Colin Powell were among those attending the 21st annual Kennedy Center Honors for artistic achievement. The Washington Post reports that emcee Jack Lemmon blubbered and cried at the podium when he introduced Bill Cosby at the White House Saturday night. Sunday’s black tie gala was taped for broadcast by CBS on Dec. 30.
