Katy Perry: 'I Don't Need a Dude' to Have Kids
The Prism singer says she doesn't plan to have children for at least two years
Katy Perry isn’t afraid to be a single mom.
“I don’t need a dude,” the music star tells Rolling Stone for its latest cover story. “We are living in the future; we don’t need anything. I don’t think I’ll have to, but we’ll see.”
That doesn’t mean the 29-year-old, who is rumored to be dating DJ Diplo, wouldn’t like a man if she found the right one.
“I’m not anti-men,” she says. “I love men. But there is an option if someone doesn’t present himself.”
Still, children are not in the immediate future for the Prism singer, who plans to take a hiatus from music once she does welcome a bundle of joy.
“I want to be doing that in the right time,” says Perry, who is in the midst of her Prismatic World Tour. “And that’s not in the next two years, you know? Maybe it’s in a five-year plan, but I need to really be able to focus 100 percent of my attention on it.”
She adds: “I don’t really want to take the child on tour. Not until, like, birth through five is over.”
