Just over two months ago, Elinor was a vital presence at her daughter’s Hamptons wedding when she exchanged vows with John Molner. “It was so special that my mom could make the trip. She’s 91. It was very moving,” Couric told PEOPLE at the time. “I feel so lucky to to be able to have her here.” Couric and her mother had been especially close since her father passed away from Parkinson’s disease in 2011.
