brightcove.createExperiences(); Kanye West‘s latest beautiful, dark, twisted fantasy has some on the Internet – and former collaborators – questioning his mental health.

And lyrics off the rapper’s new album The Life of Pablo – currently only available as a digital stream on Tidal – may just trigger more questions.

On his new song “Feedback,” he repeatedly raps, “I been outta my mind a long time,” later adding: “Name one genius that ain’t crazy.”

Then on “FML” – which he performed at Madison Square Garden during the album’s launch and unveiling of his Yeezy Season 3 collection – he raps, “You ain’t never seen nothing crazier than / this n—a when he off his Lexapro.” (Per the Mayo Clinic, the drug is an antidepressant used to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder.)

In recent weeks, West, 38, has made headlines for his antics on social media; song lyrics that seemingly fueled a bout of bad blood between him and Taylor Swift; and his Saturday Night Live appearance, from which audio leaked of an expletive-ridden rant.

West’s former collaborator Rhymefest expressed concerns over his mental health on Twitter, posting West “needs help, in the form of counseling. Spiritual & mental.” Then, on the red carpet at the Grammys, Rhymefest told PopSugar, “I want him to be happy, and if he’s not happy, I’m concerned.”

But, a longtime friend of the rapper told PEOPLE earlier this week there is no cause for concern.

“I haven’t felt personally concerned about his well being,” says the friend. “Every time I talk with him – which is almost every day – he’s extremely good-natured, [and] in a great mood …”

And while a insider tells PEOPLE West’s tendency to spur social media squabbles “causes friction” in his relationship with Kim Kardashian West – his wife and the mother of their kids, daughter North, 2½, and 11-week-old son Saint – a source close to the reality star, 35, says: “It sounds like [she’s still supporting Kanye] from everything I’ve heard.”
