How Kanye West's Issues Have Caused Strain on His Marriage to Kim Kardashian: 'It's Been a Tense Time,' Says Source
A source tells PEOPLE in this week's issue the couple has had "a stressful few months"
Though the rapper is no longer hospitalized, a source tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue that his ongoing health crisis has caused strain on the marriage, especially considering Kardashian West is still recovering from trauma of her own since being robbed at gunpoint in Paris just two months ago.
“Kanye and Kim had a stressful few months,” says the insider. “It’s been a tense time. But Kim is happy he’s getting help.”

That being said, Kardashian West, 36, remains a steady source of support for her husband, and a separate insider close to West says the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has been “very focused on being supportive and managing the crisis that is going on” as he addresses his health issues.
“She is super focused on him,” says the source, who says Kardashian West has been “the dutiful, responsible, loving spouse that one would expect.”
The source adds that in addition to his wife, the rapper has a “huge support group” of people including family, friends and associates.
“They are incredibly loyal to him and have been around him since day one,” says the insider. “He has their support. It’s not isolated to just him and Kim.”
“Being a father completely changed Kanye’s life and who he was,” says the source of West’s relationship with his children. “He’s an incredibly proud, doting, involved and loving father. He loves playing with his kids, he loves talking to his kids, he loves teaching his kids. He and North have an amazing relationship. She’s very attached to him.”
The source says West, who “talks about his kids constantly,” is determined to provide them with the best life he can.
“If you really listen to what he says in interviews and from the stage, obviously he’s got a lot to say and there’s a lot to wade through, but a lot of the stuff he talks about is the future — for his kids,” says the source. “He wants to make a contribution through art to make the world a better place. He talks about education and how one day he wants the Yeezy brand to provide school uniforms. He’s very focused on the future, in terms of economic and racial equality.”
In the end, his wife and kids are his motivation, says the source.
“He lives his life in a political way and his family obviously informs all of those decisions,” says the source. “They’re the reasons he does what he does and thinks what he thinks.”
