Kanye West is no stranger to best-dressed lists. But the rapper takes inspiration from has his own – rather unexpected – fashion icon.

“You have really great style,” the rapper told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Tuesday.

He then addressed the audience, advising them: “Seriously, this is one of the people you should look at when ever you’re trying to figure out how to put together an outfit – especially for guys.”

DeGeneres, wearing one of her usual menswear-inspired looks (a dark sweater, jeans and a button-down), laughed along as he insisted, “I would completely wear [that].”

On a more serious note, the two longtime pals also discussed West’s late mother, Donda, who died late last year from heart disease following surgery.

“A lot of things changed … with my mom passing,” said Kanye, who showed a clip of his new video for “Love Lockdown.” “She always wanted me to be the best that I could be and not get hung up on the small things.”

DeGeneres – who met Donda on several occasions – added, “She was amazing … She was just lovely.”
