Justin Timberlake may be the only pop star who can make other musicians get excited when he pretends to accept their awards.
The “Mirrors” singer, 34, caused Taylor Swift to have an adorably over-the-top freakout during the iHeartRadio Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday when he pretended to accept the award for best lyrics on her behalf.
When the 25-year-old singer’s name was announced, she pretended to have one of her trademark excited reactions to the news, causing Timberlake, who was seated next to her, to add to the joke by getting up and walking to the stage to accept the trophy on her behalf.
The “Blank Space” beauty was game for the joke, laughing along and clapping as Timberlake approached the stage. However, the former boy band star stopped himself short and went back to his table to let Swift accept her own award.
Of course, Swift is no stranger to people storming the stage while she is accepting an award. Kanye West famously stole the spotlight from the singer during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when he announced that her award should have gone to Beyoncé.
(Don’t worry though, Swift and West are totally cool now.)
Timberlake did eventually get his time to shine onstage when he accepted the innovator award later in the evening.
