Justin Theroux‘s honeymoon with new bride Jennifer Aniston might not have been as conventional as some might have imagined, but The Leftovers star says the friend-filled Bora Bora getaway was just what they envisioned – and “really special.”

“It was a fantastic honeymoon, Theroux, 44, tells Extra. “We had thought about it – we could just do a normal honeymoon, or we could go with some friends, keep the party going, relax and have fun.”

The newlyweds jetted off to the French Polynesian paradise just after they tied the knot on Aug. 5 – and were joined by famous friends including Jason Bateman, Jimmy Kimmel and Tobey Maguire, along with the stars’ respective families.

The group stayed at the posh Four Seasons resort, where they indulged in beachside yoga, boat rides and plenty of R&R.

“It was really special,” Theroux told Extra. “It was really beautiful.”

The actor also answered another question that was on people’s minds: Would the woman known to millions as Jennifer Aniston be changing her name?

“I made her change both names, so she’s now Justin Theroux,” he joked, before clarifying, “I don’t think it would be great if she did. I think ‘Aniston’ is going to stick with her if she likes it or not.”

Theroux portrays Kevin Garvey on The Leftovers, which follows citizens of Mapleton, Texas, who are mysteriously left behind following the disappearance of majority of the world’s population. The show films in Austin, Texas, which just happens to be the hometown of another leading lady who is close to the newlyweds: Sandra Bullock.

The actor confirmed he and Jen have gone on at least one double date with Bullock and her new boyfriend, Bryan Randall – and it seems they had a blast.

“She’s got a beautiful little restaurant there called Bess,” he says after extolling the virtues of the Lone Star city. “It’s delicious!”
