He’s back from paradise.
Justin Theroux was spotted in Los Angeles Monday after enjoying a tropical honeymoon with new wife Jennifer Aniston – and a bevy of celeb friends! – in Bora Bora following their surprise wedding on Aug. 5.
Theroux, who was photographed without Aniston, sported his new wedding band as he passed through Los Angeles International Airport to catch a departing flight to Austin. The Leftovers star donned a black shirt and black jeans for the trip, topping off the look with aviator shades and a brown fedora. (The actor’s HBO series shoots on location in Austin.)
After surprising guests with a romantic backyard wedding rather than a birthday party for Theroux (who turned 44 on the honeymoon), the happy couple boarded a Gulfstream V private jet for Bora Bora, where they stayed the posh Four Seasons resort. They also brought along some close pals for the trip, including Jimmy Kimmel, wife Molly McNearney and their daughter; and Jason Bateman and his family. Later, friends Tobey Maguire and wife Jennifer Meyer – who designed the couple’s wedding rings – joined the group as well.
“Jen and Justin were greeted with champagne. They didn’t stop smiling,” says an eyewitness.
Another source tells PEOPLE they invited several friends along because “they wanted the celebration to last as long as possible.”
“All of it was amazing,” guest Ellen DeGeneres tells Entertainment Tonight of the festivities. “Jimmy Kimmel was hilarious and Sia sang and that was fantastic. It was just a fun night. It was a beautiful night.”
“I love them both and they’re both great people and deserve the happiness,” she added.
DeGeneres also opened up about how the couple were able to keep their nuptials a secret, explaining, “We’re friends with them obviously for a long time and so, I know how long they’ve been trying to plan this. So the fact that they got away with it for as long as they did before it leaked out, it was exciting.”
A source tells PEOPLE the couple planned their honeymoon first, however.
After visiting Bora Bora last year for Theroux’s birthday and their engagement anniversary, they knew they wanted to honeymoon there.
“It’s funny how they planned the whole wedding around their honeymoon. They decided to get married on Aug. 5, because they were able to take time off after for a honeymoon,” says the Aniston source.
The couple stayed in a three-bedroom, $4,000-a-night Otemanu oceanfront villa, which was stocked with beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, tropical fruit and juices. The villa came with 24-hour concierge staff.
Throughout the trip, Aniston and Theroux relaxed with their friends, participated in yoga on the beach, ventured out on boats and enjoyed long dinners together.
The couple were spotted looking relaxed as they walked through the resort together, with Aniston wrapping her arm wrapped around Theroux’s waist while he had his arm slung around her shoulder.
